Trees can symbolize what it means to be human. We have roots that are connected to early experiences, feelings, and memories. As we grow we create new connections, branching and flowing in different ways. This can be seen as our daily behaviour, emotions, and thoughts. Our goal is to grow and gravitate towards the light- happiness. There are times in our life that challenges, relationships, or traumas can block our growth. Our roots or branches may have formed pathways that not longer serve us or help us grow towards that light. We are capable of changing the trajectory of our lives through meaningful reflection.

People seek psychotherapy for various reasons, whether it be finding a solution or just having an opportunity to speak to someone. At its core, psychotherapy provides a supportive and confidential space where individuals can explore their thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and relationships. I approach therapy better understanding one's inner child. Understanding, reconnecting, and healing those emotional wounds from our childhood that will allow us to better understand and manage our current behaviours and emotional distress in order to empower ourselves in personal growth and emotional healing.

Change can happen. Seeking support for yourself, your child, or family, often comes at a tender moment. As you reach out for therapy, you may feel vulnerable, uncertain, or simply aware that something isn't quite right. Therapy isn't about fixing what is broken; it's about understanding what's happening and finding steadier ways forward. That is when change happens. I invite you to reach out so we can work together. My work is rooted in compassion, curiosity, and respect for each person's story. Together, we create a space where emotions can safely be named, patterns understood, and resilience strengthened.

You are a good, kind person who struggles with situations that cause you confusion and pain. Maybe you are struggling with feeling down, anxious or inadequate. Or there is conflict and distance in your relationship that is causing you concern. Perhaps you have gone through losses and changes lately and finding it hard. Therapy is an effective way to overcome difficulties with emotions, thoughts and relationships. Sometimes the hardest relationship is with ourselves. Therapy can help you bounce back, increase your joy, and create healthy connections with the people you love.

I am especially passionate about working with clients witch childhood and attachment trauma. Trauma often does not mean a big scary event, but can be about subtle, repetitive experiences that erode our sense of self in different ways. Anger, anxiety, OCD, DID, CPTSD are some of the ways these experiences can manifest in adulthood.

“Is this forever?” You might be asking yourself this question when you’re struggling and feeling overwhelmed, especially if you’re recovering from abuse, trauma, or illness. Sometimes we lose track of what we want and need moment-to-moment, believing we need permission to want and need anything at all. It is this sense of being “stuck” that often brings clients to therapy. Having a witness—and a safe place to be witnessed—can support us in moving through and beyond life’s most challenging moments. With awareness of our patterns, automatic responses, and bodily sensations, we can start to feel our way out of that “forever” feeling.

You’re ready to stop over-apologizing, overthinking texts, and replaying conversations in your head. You may feel drained by people-pleasing or stuck in patterns that leave you anxious or unheard. At home, at work, or with the people closest to you, this can show up as stress, self-doubt, or emotional exhaustion. If you want to feel more in control of your time and energy and build healthier, more balanced relationships, I can help you untangle what’s getting in the way and support you in making meaningful, lasting change.

I'm interested in working with people who are ready to take a journey into self-discovery: to inquire compassionately into joy, fulfillment, distress and suffering. Perhaps you have questions about who you really are, how experience has shaped you, what your place in the world is, how to cope with life changes, or how to keep going in the face of injustice. Are you disillusioned, lonely, or disappointed, wondering how to move towards belonging, vibrancy, and liberation? Perhaps existence simply feels wrong in a way you can't quite pinpoint.

My clients describe me as warm and easy to open up to. You can expect a non-judgmental space where we work at a pace that you feel ready for because therapy doesn’t have to feel intimidating. I worked for the last 8 years with adults to process and overcome the far-reaching impacts of trauma on the mind and body. Trauma can show up in many ways in the mind and body including anxiety, depression, nightmares, difficulty trusting others, among many other common symptoms. I use a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches that are trauma focused to support you in processing your experiences and reaching your goals for therapy.

It is so easy to lose True North when the storms of life blow. Sometimes you need a better compass, map, keel, or captain to guide the battered vessel toward a safe harbour, or even guide you toward a new continent. On this grand voyage called life, winds of depression, anxiety, trauma, aimlessness, or uncertainty can threaten your capacity to cope. Knowing there is a deep current ever guiding you helps restore your resilience. This deep inner work will better equip you to read patterns and ride out the storms.

So many of us have learned to shut down emotions in order to carry on. You may have noticed that this can only last so long. One need not have a mental health diagnosis in order to access therapy. All that is needed is the desire for personal growth. We heal via safe re-connection with other humans - your story deserves to be listened to.

You’re holding it together on the outside, but inside it’s a different story. Maybe you're feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or just plain stuck. Sometimes, you don’t need advice—you just need someone to talk to who really listens. In therapy, there’s no pressure to have it all figured out. We slow things down, explore what’s really going on, and make space for your emotions—messy, loud, quiet, or confusing. We’ll unpack what’s been weighing you down and gently move toward what brings you relief, clarity, and purpose. If you're ready for real conversations and meaningful change, I’m here for it.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are certified by one of the main professional associations, mainly the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and will have a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation with their name. Social Workers listed in the directory must be registered members of the college specific to their province. To be listed in the directory, Psychologists must be registered with the psychological college specific to their province or territory.

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given the considerable variation in professional regulation and prerequisites across Canadian provinces, some providers may possess significant professional qualifications without necessarily holding professional memberships or being obliged to acquire them. As a result, they may be selectively included without the "Verified" seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists and social workers can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and supervised, practical experience that enable them to do so in Canada.

Psychologists have a master's and/or doctoral degree and have passed both written and oral exams. Psychologists are able to complete mental health assessments and provide diagnostic information to clients as well as provide counselling therapy or psychotherapy. Counsellors and psychotherapists are expected to have a master's or doctoral degree in counselling psychology, social work, or a related mental health discipline and certification by a professional association, such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Registered Social Workers possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work and where possible must be licensed or certified by the provincial government and/or regulatory college.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, the cost of a therapy session in Canada could be between $100 and $200. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. Some types of outpatient mental health services are covered by Medicare, provided these are performed by a licensed mental health professional in the provinces or territory you reside in and who accepts the assignment.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postal code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Professionals licensed by regulatory colleges and those certified by associations such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association are obligated to uphold client confidentiality unless there is a legal reason that requires them to disclose information. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there is the potential or known harm to the client or others, or a court order, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
