I consult with adults who are successful in many ways, but feel unsatisfied with some aspect of their life. They choose to participate in therapy because they want to feel better, cope more effectively, improve their relationships and their overall quality of life. While the circumstances that lead someone to make an appointment varies, there are a number of symptoms that many people identify with, including: • Anxiety • Low mood • Feeling bad about yourself • Relationships are frustrating and disappointing. • Feeling caught in past traumatic or upsetting experiences • Struggling with ineffective coping.

Through the years I've witnessed successful results when treating: anxiety, depression and mood disorders, substance use and addictions, identity issues and personality disorders, eating disorders, sexual identity and sexual orientation issues, PTSD, adolescence issues and middle life crisis, grief and loss, co-dependency, couple's conflicts and parenting issues.
Based on the belief that "we all have our own answers" I focus my efforts to provide a professional, non judgmental and non critical space where people can safely engage in a process of self reflection and discovery through which they can increase their self awareness and learn how to access their own answers and solutions to a wide range of mental health concerns and challenging life situations.

First, congrats on looking for help! It's not always easy. Perhaps you've been trying to manage and change on your own for years. Feeling like you need to be able to "handle" everything that life throws at you. Like you "should" be able to figure it all out on your own. Putting effort into changing, only to find yourself repeating patterns, feeling defeated, and not knowing what to do next. It is exhausting! Choosing to finally get help may feel hard, but honestly, from here it should get easier. You're choosing to get off the rollercoaster of doing it all alone, and counselling, which we know can be a total game changer.

Working with me you’ll begin to discover your beliefs and values that will enable you to move towards the fulfillment your authentic self has always been striving for. In combination with other evidence-based interventions I am trained in, you’ll begin to recognize the differences between your own values and those that may have been imposed upon you; an increase in confidence and self-direction; a decreased desire to please others in a way that you lose who you truly are in the process.

Mood Disorders Counsellors
Mood Disorder is a clinical term given to a group of diagnoses in the DSM IV guide where an imbalance in someone's mood (e.g. hyper or depressed) is the main underlying feature of their condition. Mood Disorder may also be referred to as Mood Affective Disorder. Two types of mood disorders (or mood affective disorders) are broadly recognized; there are depressive disorders, such as major depressive disorder (MDD), clinical depression or major depression. And bipolar disorder (BD), which used to be known as manic depression and is characterized by periods of mania or hypomania, interlaced with depressive episodes.

Seasonal Affective Mood Disorder or Seasonal Mood Disorder (SAD) is generally included within the former type/group as it's not characterized by hyper or manic moods.
