I work with individual adults and adolescents, families and couples using an emotion-focused, mindfulness approach.
Life can be tricky. Are ups and downs causing a collection of past hurts which cause you to feel misunderstood, overwhelmed, hopeless or just plain tired of dealing with others, or even with yourself? It’s ok to not be ok. You deserve relief in your life to move from just surviving toward thriving in your life.

I have training in, and have applied the following modalities in the past: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, MBCT, Mindfulness, and Meditation.
I started my practice to create a space that is healing, safe, and accepting to help you become more resilient, empowered, and content. Life is often difficult, confusing, and disappointing, but you are much more than your bad days, bad months or bad years. I believe that healing comes from recognizing your true self, living authentically, and balancing acceptance and change. With consistency and commitment, it is possible to break out of patterns that no longer serve a purpose. I offer a judgment-free space where I aim to support you in living the life you want, with peace and conviction. Your goals for yourself are within reach.

I aim to help you develop practical skills, coping strategies, and self-compassion and use Cognitive behavior therapy, Solution-Focused, Brief therapy, Mindfulness, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).
Are you open to new possibilities? In order to understand who you want to be, you have to know who you are first. Gain insight and awareness into your situation, and learn to extract the lessons from your past struggles to develop new ways of coping and managing the challenges in your life. From early on, people learn behaviors to protect themselves for survival — but what worked in the past may no longer be helpful today. When basic human needs aren’t met, the outcome is often depression, anxiety, relationship conflict, or even addiction.

With over 12 years of clinical experience and specialized training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness Practices, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (in addition or other modalities), I will work with you collaboratively to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your needs and hopes for change.
Collectively, our mental health has never been a bigger priority than now. For many of us, our foundation of coping has been shaken to the core. We are trying to find ways of navigating through difficult emotions, sensations, urges, thoughts and relationship issues that may be bubbling up and overflowing on the surface. With these difficulties, we might find ourselves coping in extremes, like a swinging pendulum: either trying to over-control our situation, or, perhaps, losing control entirely. I would love to support you in resolving these difficulties, slowing down the pendulum, and hopefully finding a 'middle path'.

In practice, I draw from attachment theory, mindfulness, intuitive eating principals, and cognitive behaviour therapy.
We are each on a journey in search of safety, meaning, and fulfillment. Along the way we are constantly exposed to images and ideals of how we are supposed to look, how we are supposed to feel, and how we are supposed to behave. We start to doubt our uniqueness or our worth. I aim to create safe spaces to talk about things that might seem too personal, taboo, shameful, trivial, or embarrassing to share with others in your life. Together we can examine limiting beliefs about yourself, old stories of who you are and how you "should" be in the world, so you can start to live by choice, not by chance.

Hello! I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with several years of experience in the mental health field. I currently work with adults, teens and children. I believe that strength is a characteristic that resides in all people. It can however, be difficult to see during times of hardship and vulnerability. I am committed to providing a non-judgemental safe space, in which clients feel empowered to make the positive changes needed to live healthy fulfilled lives.

Cognitive Behaviour Hypnotherapy, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction may be used for trauma therapy.
Accepting new clients...Have you reached your limit in pain/stress/worry? Are you growing more concerned about your relationship with alcohol and/or drugs? Or are you worried about the alcohol or drug use of someone you love and you aren't sure what you are 'supposed' to do or not do. Are you starting to realize that maybe you "don't got this", and that you need some help? Patterns of unhealthy or unhelpful behaviours developed over time CAN be changed; coping with trauma and anxiety IS possible. This can be a tough and confusing time, but reaching out for help indicates that you have hope...now it's time to build on that hope.

In my therapeutic work, I aim to integrate the Western-based art of psychotherapy with Eastern-based philosophies of inquiry, mindfulness, and presence.
Your story matters. I specialize in exploring meaning-making, existential questions, self-identity, and self-concept. My work emphasizes how self-understanding is transformative in helping people claim their story and live it authentically. With compassion, and a grounding presence, I aim to provide a space where your concerns are heard, cared for, and validated. I work with individuals, couples and families who are interested in understanding their story and creating change in their life. If this resonates with you, please reach out to me. How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behaviour through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?

This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviours and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioural habits.
