There have been times in my life when I was convinced that I was the problem; seeing myself this way led to a great deal of confusion, hopelessness, loneliness and desperation. A turning point for me was discovering the statement, “the person is not the problem, the problem is the problem”; this principle helped me to separate problems from my sense of who I am, it eased the burden of blame and judgment; helped me to take new responsibility for the challenges I was experiencing, and reminded me that along with challenges I have also engaged with skills, values, hopes, commitments and aspirations.

My goal is to create a collaborative therapeutic space where you are the expert in your own life. Together, we will explore the stories that shape your experiences, recognizing how struggles can create dominant narratives that overshadow your strengths, values, and preferred ways of being. Therapy is a space to reclaim your voice, rediscover your skills and knowledge, and examine how power, identity, and social and cultural contexts shape life’s challenges. I believe that people are not problems—problems are problems, and together, we can create new possibilities for healing and change

I'm a practicum counselling student from Yorkville University starting in January 2026. I am willing to work with anyone to help achieve their goals, but many of the people I work with have carried more than their fair share for a long time. They're the ones others rely on: steady, capable, but quietly burning out. They don't always know what needs to change, they just know that something has to. Therapy is a safe space to stop holding everything together and start figuring out what actually matters most.

I work with individuals, couples, and families who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected. You might be navigating stress, anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, or carrying experiences from the past that still feel heavy. Sometimes clients come in with a clear concern, and other times it’s just a sense that something isn’t quite right. I also support children and youth with emotional and behavioural challenges, as well as families navigating change.

I specialize in working with men and their families, providing strategies to break patterns of unwanted behaviour and thoughts. Many of the men I have worked with have struggled with anger, sometimes leading to challenging outbursts like yelling, name calling, swearing, pushing and sometimes hitting. Often my clients have struggled to be vulnerable with others, including their children and spouses, despite wanting to be close with their loved ones. Many of my clients have struggled to identify the root causes of these challenges and are looking for ways to connect deeply but don't know where to begin.

Finding the right psychologist, someone you can create a meaningful working relationship with, is essential to therapy. I hope to make you feel welcome and supported while exploring challenging areas in your life to find real solutions. Everyone has the potential to live a happy, healthy life. Support from a psychologist can be the missing step toward improving mental health and meeting personal goals. I approach therapy with optimism, understanding that while difficulties and setbacks are inevitable, with the right support, everyone can develop the skills needed to navigate challenges and achieve a more fulfilling life.

Life can feel heavy—whether you're carrying weight physically or mentally. You might be showing up for others, pushing through the day, and trying to keep it all together—but inside, you’re tired. Maybe it’s anxiety that won’t shut off, low mood that lingers, or a deep sense that something needs to change. Therapy is a space to finally put down the pressure and focus on you. My clients are often tired of pretending they’re fine when they’re not. They feel overwhelmed, stuck,or unsure how to cope. They may be dealing with anxiety, low mood, stress or self-esteem issues. They want to feel confident, grounded and self-aware.

As my mentors have helped me in my life, and as they have guided me through difficult points of self-growth and reflection, I have come to learn the value of being there for others to progress through our own difficult times. We need each other. I do believe it is far less problematic to overcome challenges with guidance and direction. Even more so when that guidance is refined through education, experience, and a standardized expectation of practice. I am capable of direct billing for ICBC and CVAP and can be accepted through other insurance agencies (i.e. Sunlife, BlueCross, GreenShield)

Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
