Therapy is an opportunity to look at self and understand more about your life. At times, we encounter things that feel overwhelming or unbearable and therapy allows you to have the opportunity to have someone to support you in this struggle. My belief is that the therapeutic relationship allows a person to move through these times with more ease by having someone at your side to face these difficulties.

Finding a therapist can be a daunting task, especially if you are new to therapy and not sure how to find the right fit. My goal is to offer you a safe space to determine what you hope to gain from therapy and how we can best meet your needs. Originally from Dublin, I am a white settler living on Treaty 1 territory. I am a cisgender lesbian and I specialize in working with members of the LGBTQ+ community, particularly gender-questioning and transgender young people. As a queer mother, I also support other parents and would-be parents in navigating the unique challenges of making our families.

“There will always be someone who can’t see your worth. Don’t let it be you.” My vision is to provide you with a safe and comforting space where you can express yourself in an authentic way, free of judgment. There is not one single reason or set of issues that may lead a person to seek help, the human experience can be an exhausting one and often times we feel alone. I am here to help you understand your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, to learn new techniques that will help you overcome challenges, and to support you on your journey. Together we will influence your mind to work for you and not against you.

I offer a respectful, relational space for those carrying the impacts of trauma and intergenerational harm. I recognize that trauma is shaped by histories of colonization, displacement, and systemic violence, and that healing is not about fixing people, but restoring safety, dignity, and voice. My approach is grounded in humility and accountability, honouring your experiences, strengths, and connections. Healing happens at your pace, on your terms—and you do not have to walk it alone. I have been in the helping field for over 15 years and look forward to seeing if I may be a fit to help you on your path to healing.

Life has many twists and turns; progress is not linear. It may be challenging to reach out for help, but the benefits can be life-changing. It is my hope that the experiences within this journey will be carried with the participant long after our time together is over. Through counselling, the roots of current issues and challenges can be explored to allow new growth. I use a holistic approach to counselling that allows the therapist to walk with the participant through their journey of self-exploration. This enables the participants to feel at ease and comfortable as we embark on this experience together.

Therapy provides an opportunity for healing and feeling more in control in your life. If you are concerned about the level of your own or someone else's alcohol or drug use I am an addictions therapist and registered social worker. For over 20 years I have helped clients restore balance around alcohol, drug use, gambling and internet addiction. My passion is to create the space needed for recovery so you can begin to recognize and understand the ingrained patters that are just not working. Together we look at how these patterns have come about and are shaped by significant relationships in your life, both past and present.

We all face times of struggle in our lives. Even those of us who look like we have our act together on the outside might be quietly suffering on the inside. Perhaps you've tried talking to loved ones, reading self-help books, or asking AI, but clarity or relief continue to escape you. You want to feel better, but just can't seem to find your footing.

Attachment-based Counsellors
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
