Perhaps thoughts, memories, or feelings about a painful event make it difficult for you to experience satisfaction in your marriage or family or to excel in roles such as parenting or socializing, or cause you to do things you do not like. Perhaps a personal, relationship or vocational situation is causing you distress, or mental health condition such as stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or addiction makes it difficult for you to pursue your aspirations. Or, perhaps, concerns about managing a situation, the outcome of significant events, or achieving meaningful goals make it difficult for you to fulfill important roles.

You may feel like you have to prove your worth, like you're not "good enough." You've spent years trying to fit in and you're exhausted by that process. Your experiences have shaped who you are, but they don't have to define how you live. You can't erase your past, but it doesn't have to control your future or even how you live today. Maybe you're a parent wanting to do better for your children than you experienced in your own childhood, and your past keeps bringing up feelings in the present. It takes more energy to hide who you are than to shine your unique light. You're here for a reason, some part of you wants change.

Accepting new clients as of 19/01/26. I am focused on helping couples, especially where one or both members are living with ADHD and ASD. I take special interest in managing conflict as I feel that is likely where the most growth will occur. That being said, I recognize that it can be a very uncomfortable experience. Relationships are a high risk, high reward situation. I want to help facilitate difficult conversations as much as possible.

Are you feeling overwhelmed with everything going on in your life? Like you’re constantly showing up for others—whether it’s your kids, your team, your job, or just trying to figure out who you are—but deep down, you’re running on empty. Maybe you’re a parent trying to hold it together while wondering if you’re doing enough. An athlete navigating pressure, performance, and identity. A young adult facing major life transitions and silently battling anxiety, self-doubt, or comparison. Or a high-achieving professional who appears to have it all together, yet feels disconnected and exhausted behind the scenes.

Are there specific medications for alcohol use?

There are oral medications approved to treat alcohol use disorder—such as disulfiram, acamprosate, and naltrexone, which also comes in an injectable form. These medications do help people reduce their drinking as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone helps reduce cravings, disulfiram can make a person feel sick when they drink, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.

How do alcohol recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other patients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals live at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff can also include people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other tools for recovery.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for alcohol use reduce the amount of alcohol they intake. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
