Coming to terms with our vulnerabilities and shortcomings can be a daunting and intimidating task. Sometimes, the idea of sharing these thoughts and feelings with friends or family members can seem unbearable. Matthew strives to foster a judgement-free environment where clients can feel comfortable and secure exploring these vulnerabilities, and become stronger in the process. Matthew is interested in a working with diverse populations, and has experience working with such issues as abuse/neglect, and depression, as well as experience working with BIPOC, First Nations, and LGBTQ plus communities.
Matthew has a trauma-informed approach to therapy rooted in Ericksonian psychosocial theory and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Matthew comes from a background of working with clients with a diverse array of mental health issues as a mental health worker in an assisted living setting.
Matthew enters sessions with open-minded understanding, and humanistic approach that aims to foster a sense of ease and acceptance with clients. Time spent as a mental health worker has also provided Matthew experience with a variety of mental health disorders and issues related to acquired brain injury.
