I believe that life has the potential to be beautiful and fulfilling. At the same time, I believe that life consistently presents us with challenges and that these challenges can ultimately serve and enable our own growth. I see counselling as the space where we can more fully understand ourselves and discover how to live our lives to the fullest. I believe that by taking such a position we can become more aspirational and creative rather than becoming stuck on and identified with problems. Through becoming more conscious and aware, I believe we can unlock ourselves, overcome barriers, and find creative paths towards living fully.
Overall I would say that I operate in a humanistic way, which means that I believe that the foundations of counselling are relational and based in authentic connection. Rather than assuming the role of a technical expert, I strive to co-construct meaning with my clients. In addition, I like to avoid diagnostic language and believe that the process is fluid.
