I work trauma informed and use an eclectic style of counselling interventions like CBT, Narrative Therapy, and I am trained in Marriage & Family issues.
Good news! Asking for help is never a sign of weakness but a sign of strength! Accepting new clients! Life struggles can happen to anyone, we are all human. Sometimes life throws things at us that we just don’t know how to deal with in an effective way on our own. Other times we miss the skills or insight we need to build long lasting and enjoyable relationships. Maybe you have tried to bring change but it seems nothing has worked so far or only for a short period of time. Whatever the cause of your current struggles, I care about you and your situation and offer a safe place to explore your struggles and challenges.

I work with individuals seeking guidance, emotional support, mental clarity, harmony in mind and body. Whether experiencing relationship conflict, stress, grief, trauma or seeking new perspectives and fresh solutions on your life journey, the essence of my approach is to provide a safe, supportive base where you can explore, understand, and heal issues causing discomfort and imbalance in your life. Physical limitations, social discomfort, and the challenge of living in a fast-paced changing world all contribute to "dis-ease" in the body/mind. This can present itself in the form of anxiety, depression, chronic pain, insomnia, eating disorders, addiction and more.

I help older adults and their essential caregivers manage the complexities of aging. My goal is to guide your journey towards more joy. Aging is not for the faint of heart. The aging body is not always cooperative. Post retirement can be a challenge as society defines us by what we do. Clients ask: Do I still matter? There can be multiple losses: family and friends, your driver's licence, functional losses, your sense of independence. Last but not least, ageing is a time for reflection: your legacy, meaning-making, regrets, letting-go, and finding a sense of inner peace.

Marriage Counselling

How does marriage counseling work?

Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?

Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?

Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?

Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
