We have created a formula for success that is guaranteed to make a difference in your marriage/relationship.
Do you desire real change? Not just temporary shifts or crisis management? Ready to be free of stress, anxiety, or depression due to trauma? It is our goal to equip, empower, and inspire you. Our work together will energize, rejuvenate, and enhance your life. The things we think about impact how we function overall. Research suggests that 87-95% of physical and mental illnesses come from our thought life. Core beliefs and trauma in the unconscious root our thinking and behaviours. Until we make the unconscious conscious we continue to repeat patterns and can feel stuck. Unlock the unconscious with our mindfulness program.

As a registered Social Worker for over 30 years, I offer extensive training, experience and a passion for a therapeutic approach in regard to supporting individuals who have experienced past traumas and/or present struggles. I believe in facilitating the healing process through an individual approach that is client-centred and non-judgmental. There are a variety of therapeutic methods which can facilitate the healing process. I strive to determine the most appropriate method based on open communication and with an understanding for the individual. Through a partnership, and established trust, the healing process is possible.

"Isn't it time that you started living verses just existing. I believe that every individual has the strength to work towards a happy, healthy and balanced life. I know that no one just 'gets over' things but they can be assisted to work through their struggles and traumas. I pride myself on the therapeutic alliance and personal empowerment of individuals through respect, communication, and the acknowledgment that each individual is the author of their own lives. I work with children, teens, individuals and couples."

Marriage Counselling

How does marriage counseling work?

Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?

Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?

Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?

Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
