If you're a South Asian young professional (ages 18 to 35) attempting to navigate challenges around self-esteem, anxiety or dating/relationships, I see and hear where you're coming from. Although you may view the world from a primarily western lens, you're probably still navigating life between two worlds. This can often involve trying to meet expectations you've internalized over time, along with managing feelings of guilt, resentment & loneliness. In some cases, you may try to find relief from these difficult emotions by overusing social media, watching hours of entertainment, immersing yourself in work or using food as an escape.
As a counsellor, my role is to work with clients in digging deeper, reflecting and moving towards meaningful change utilizing empirically proven therapeutic approaches. I also work to consistently support my clients from an empathetic and non-judgmental approach while obtaining regular feedback to ensure that I am meeting their needs.
After a few years in the corporate world, I have been fortune to have found my calling in supporting others, especially those navigating similar cultural and emotional challenges.
