Despite the value of compassion it is viewed by some as "weakness" or even "not trying hard enough." My goal is to help you and your family discover how compassion can enable you to strengthen your emotional intelligence, personal well-being, and relationships. My compassion-focused approach aims to teach you how to be open to and tolerate painful feelings and develop self-understanding and inner wisdom to know how to deal with life's challenges. This is particularly helpful to adults who have personal struggles linked to shame and self-criticism and those who have experienced childhood trauma or tragedy later in life.
Compassion is important for parents and children too. It is not about letting yourself or your child "off the hook." Compassion enhances parenting by increasing understanding and is associated with better well-being in parents and children. My focus is to help parents understand their child's needs and support their emotional growth.
I'm highly effective working with adults who have experienced trauma. I also have advanced training to work with children, adolescents, and families. I offer my young clients a creative approach using play-based, sandtray, and expressive art methods. I value your expertise and can help you find creative solutions for you and your family.
