At our core we all know who we are, what we believe, the kind of relationships we want to have and the kind of life we want to build. Trauma, anxiety, grief, loss and relationship problems can take up so much mental space that it can feel impossible to envision that life. These experiences can be isolating and it may be hard to reach out for help at the times you need it the most. Everyone deserves time and space to be listened to and supported

Life can be overwhelming, and in the chaos, it's easy to forget to prioritize yourself. If you struggle with people-pleasing, boundaries, or feelings of guilt and shame, know that you are not alone. I believe that everyone carries their own unique experiences and stories. This is why my therapeutic approach to therapy is grounded in being collaborative, relational, and client-centered. I am skilled at working with individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, acute stress, trauma, sleep difficulties, and life transitions.

I support youth and young adults struggling with focus and concentration, impulsivity, lack of motivation and other symptoms of ADHD, as well as their families, who are looking for realistic, effective solutions and next steps from someone who has a well-rounded understanding of the condition. Though they are often thought to be depressed or anxious, or assumed to be lazy or attention-seeking, the symptoms with which they are struggling are often by-products of undiagnosed ADHD.

You are driven, passionate and goal oriented. You are a natural caregiver and care deeply for those around you. You have faced many challenges and overcome many obstacles. You are gentle and loving and feel your emotions deeply. You care about your family and your friendships. You take pride in a job well done and excel in everything you do. However, now you may be in the midst of a life transition, a new job, a new baby, or a big move. Perhaps you are faced with a life change that is making you feel lost. Your thoughts are tangled up. Perhaps you constantly feel you are not doing enough — no matter how hard you try.

The body keeps the score. I help trauma survivors live full, and connected lives. I have many years of experience working with survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, as well as harmful, abusive, or neglectful childhood experiences. Trauma may impact your self-esteem, or create relationship issues, anxiety, alienation from the body, feelings of being disconnected from yourself and others. A central focus of my work has been supporting clients impacted by trauma without the lens of pathology. That’s to say: there’s nothing wrong with you at all. Your way of being in the world was developed as means of protection.

You might be here because you are searching for someone to help you with how you're feeling. You may feel anxious, depressed, stressed, like you don't measure up, or stuck and are hoping to find a compassionate listener. Perhaps you're dealing with big life transitions, issues between you and your partner(s), marginalization, interpersonal conflict, finding your purpose, or competing priorities. Bringing any of this to therapy can be scary. There is profound healing power in being courageous, listened to, validated, and encouraged.

Hello! I have a passion for working with individuals struggling to find their way to a more peaceful and centred life, be it due to turbulent relationships, depression, anxiety or anything else life throws our way. I centre my practice on an understanding that people are more than their problems and that we have the ability to create space for possibility and change. I also have a specific interest in supporting Black and Afro-Caribbean people as I know first-hand the comfort derived from accessing a therapist with lived experience of anti-black racism.

Life is full of unexpected highs and lows and we all need to feel supported, encouraged, and cared for, whether it be during times of hardships or on a regular basis. My intention is to create a safe and non-judgemental space to help you share your story, understand your needs, grieve your losses, and celebrate your accomplishments. Life can feel complicated and busy, so we don’t always make time to acknowledge and care for our mental health. Together we can work to explore situations and find patterns in your life that may be standing in your way of moving towards your goals and figure out new ways to approach old challenges.

I hope to provide each client with the support and guidance they are looking for through an individualized and collaborative approach. In a non-judgmental space, I work from a strengths-based and trauma-informed framework. Although I value an integrative approach to therapy, I am drawn to a psychodynamic orientation, to explore the root of the issue at hand.

Our 20s and 30s are often met with increased pressure, that which is self-imposed or influenced by our environment. It is during these years that we can suffer from the “shoulds”, begin to realize that there is a disconnect between where we are and where we thought we would be, or draw unhelpful comparisons to those around us. For many, these are fundamental years associated with investment in relationships and the future. This stage can be vibrant, exciting, full of possibility AND at the exact same time can be uniquely challenging. More often than not, life will throw us an unexpected curve ball - sometimes several all at once.

What do you think when you think of therapy? Are you looking for a therapist who is warm, open, and wants to support you exactly where you are at? When you think of connecting with a therapist, what are some of your hopes? My name is Adrian and I want to provide an open and collaborative space where we can connect about issues you are facing. Things such as grief, depression, anxiety, systemic oppression, not feeling accepted, transitions, and maybe an overall feeling that things are harder than they could be.

I work with young adults who are seeking to experience more authenticity within relationships and work towards living more meaningful and fulfilling lives. Perhaps there are emotional wounds from the past that are keeping you stuck, or the reality of living in the modern world is overwhelming, leaving little room for connecting with yourself. My practice is rooted in the belief that within every person exists a wellspring — a source of wisdom, creativity, and innate capacity for healing. I strive to embody an empathic, grounded presence that creates a healing space for my clients to pause and reconnect to their own inner wisdom.

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, postal code, or a provider’s name into the search bar. Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are certified by one of the main professional associations, mainly the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and will have a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation with their name. Social Workers listed in the directory must be registered members of the college specific to their province. To be listed in the directory, Psychologists must be registered with the psychological college specific to their province or territory.

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given the considerable variation in professional regulation and prerequisites across Canadian provinces, some providers may possess significant professional qualifications without necessarily holding professional memberships or being obliged to acquire them. As a result, they may be selectively included without the "Verified" seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists and social workers can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and supervised, practical experience that enable them to do so in Canada.

Psychologists have a master's and/or doctoral degree and have passed both written and oral exams. Psychologists are able to complete mental health assessments and provide diagnostic information to clients as well as provide counselling therapy or psychotherapy. Counsellors and psychotherapists are expected to have a master's or doctoral degree in counselling psychology, social work, or a related mental health discipline and certification by a professional association, such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Registered Social Workers possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work and where possible must be licensed or certified by the provincial government and/or regulatory college.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, the cost of a therapy session in Canada could be between $100 and $200. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. Some types of outpatient mental health services are covered by Medicare, provided these are performed by a licensed mental health professional in the provinces or territory you reside in and who accepts the assignment.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postal code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Professionals licensed by regulatory colleges and those certified by associations such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association are obligated to uphold client confidentiality unless there is a legal reason that requires them to disclose information. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there is the potential or known harm to the client or others, or a court order, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
