I had been a medical doctor before I became a psychologist. I changed professions because I realized that our thoughts, feelings, and behavioural habits have a powerful effect on our health and happiness but their potential to aid healing is often neglected in medicine. I feel privileged to work with clients who are on the journey of recovery and self-growth during and after adversities. I work with clients who have sleep problems, fatigue, stress, low mood, depression, anxiety, panic, chronic worry, obsessive thinking, post-concussion syndrome, medical illnesses, or chronic pain.

Reality can bite, hard. I believe people can bite back - and learn to be nourished. The trouble is, we develop patterns of relating and being in the world where we remain stuck, no matter how hard we try to adapt. With a lifetime of accumulated armour and coping strategies, some having become sources of stress rather than relief, we can come to feel alienated, alone with difficulties, without a sense of hope for something better. Coming out of conditioned isolation and into meaningful contact with others can be tremendously uncomfortable, and profoundly liberating. Individual psychotherapy is one tool to help with that process.

In a society where certain kinds of perfection are celebrated and imperfections are not tolerated, we experience shame, self-blame, isolation, hopelessness, and ultimately a toxic relationship with ourselves. Breaking free from these patterns is not a journey you must go through alone. I aim to help people embrace the whole of life – including imperfections – through radical self-acceptance and self-compassion.

Grappling with overwhelming and difficult thoughts and emotions is a unifying human experience, even though it so often feels like we're alone. We are nuanced and interconnected beings, shaped by our families, our cultures, and our broader society, and the ways in which we tell our own story affects how we are able to flourish in the world. We also hold our stories in our bodies, and exploring our mind-body connection can be a key towards well-being. Through compassion and authenticity, I will support you in your journey of deeper authenticity, self-understanding and integration.
