About
People are wired to desire closeness within relationships. However, early trauma and deep seated disappointment train our brains to use strategies to decrease painful emotional experiencing. When nobody was there to bring comfort or teach coping strategies, people either grow up to isolate or become over involved in the lives of others. Therapy explores not just the storyline but more importantly, the emotions and meanings beneath. In therapy people want to strike that balance of feeling cared for and understood by the therapist, while also being gently challenged to risk change and the discomfort that comes with growth.
I am interested in people as a whole, not just the broken or shiny parts. We all do the best we know how to do until we learn to do better. In counselling, shame is replaced with compassion in past painful learning leaving my clients with comfortable bodies and positive thinking. The resources are within every person waiting to be discovered.
It takes great courage to ask for help and for many it feels easier to figure things out alone. Sadly, many struggle for too many years not knowing that things can change or feel differently. I would be so honoured to be given the privilege of making your road to your destination shorter, and more comfortable along the way. I can’t wait to hear from you.
