When your child is struggling and you're unsure of how to support them, a play therapy approach provides an alternative way for children to process, using the language of play. Play therapy practitioners harness the natural psychological process of play, helping children unpack their experiences whilst also keeping a safe emotional distance that goes at their pace in a safe, non-threatening environment. Play therapy helps with a range of psychosocial issues: anxiety, emotional regulation, attachment, self-esteem, grief, social skills etc.
Play therapy offers numerous benefits, including enhanced emotional expression, improved social skills, increased self-esteem, and the development of coping and self-regulation mechanisms for children.
There will be regular check-ins between myself and the parents to go over therapeutic progress and discuss parental skills.
This may be a difficult period for your family, and feel like a big step to seek further support. I am here to answer questions and provide an understanding of what play therapy services entail while respecting your experience. Get in touch when you're ready for a free 15 minute consultation. With much warmth, Lindsey
