You've talked it through, maybe more than once, and the memory still has the same grip it always did. That isn't a failure on your part — some experiences get stored in a way that talking can't fully reach. EMDR works differently. It helps the brain reprocess what happened so it stops firing in the present. I'm a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) using EMDR with adults in single-incident or complex trauma, and with people living with chronic pain. Sessions in English and Mandarin, in Mississauga or online across Ontario.
EMDR is the core of how I work — a structured, well-researched method that helps your brain reprocess distressing memories so they stop hitting as hard. Because trauma and pain live in the body too, I also use somatic and mindfulness work from my training as a registered yoga teacher. For chronic pain, that often reaches further than talk alone.
You won't be asked to relive everything in detail, or to move faster than feels safe. We build steadiness first, then work at your pace.
