Contemporary mature, aging adults are part of the self help generation yet at least 35% of people over 65 are depressed. How do we ease into the next stage of life with capability and grace? Difficult for many, a lifetime of hard work, stressful life style has taken its toll, so has intergenerational unresolved trauma. Anxiety changes behaviour and old coping mechanisms no longer bring ease. Substance use and family concerns increase. Isolation becomes the norm. This profile also fits many older adults experiencing chronic illness and pain. Voice the burdens of life and be supported to change your mindset.
I am at retirement stage and experienced with treating mental health concerns in mature adults. I use an integrative approach to conversations about mental health wellness, offering insight into living the "golden years" with more effective coping skills and strategies for enhancing quality of life. Experienced with cognitive decline and caregiver support.
Navigating life transitions can be unsettling and overwhelming. Grief and loss are frequently experienced, expectations are never realized and regrets surface as families struggle to care for loved ones. I am available for both individual and family sessions to facilitate elder care planning . Counselling by and for older adults.
