I am a Mental Health Therapist for Ahtahkakoop and Beardy's & Okemasis Cree Nations. Clients with a treaty numbers get free counselling, I direct bill to NIHB. During my work experience with Indigenous clients, I understand the struggles facing Indigenous Peoples (i.e., Residential School Trauma, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, etc.). Working closely with people who experienced grief/loss, anxiety/depression, addictions and mental illness, I promote the importance of Elders, Culture, Language, Traditional Teachings, and Ceremonies for a positive healing journey for mental wellbeing.
Areas of specialty are Mental Health Awareness, Addictions Treatment, Medicine Wheel Wellness. I am a Mental Health Therapist Provider for (NIHB) Indigenous Services Canada. For Treaty Peoples I directly bill NIHB.
I have been practicing Social Work with Indigenous and non indigenous clients ranging in ages from ten to seventy, over a thirty-year career. Life has taught me the importance of healthy relationships, addictions free lifestyle, spiritually and emotional balance, all elements I use in my therapy sessions.
