Hello and welcome :) Perhaps you find yourself here because you're struggling with past trauma, feelings of anxiety, anger, grief, or sadness. Perhaps you want something to change but are not quite sure how to go about it. I am an experienced Registered Clinical Counsellor accepting clients for in-person sessions in North Vancouver and online video therapy throughout British Columbia.

I work primarily with children (ages 5 +), youth, and their families. A strong focus of mine is working with transgenerational trauma, abuse, issues surrounding belonging, abandonment, divorce and separation, addiction, eating disorders, impacts of cultural genocide/colonization, anxiety, gender transitioning/identity, and depression. I strive to walk with clients to further support them in building the necessary tools to navigate challenging life events, and to experience more beauty and growth. I understand that reaching out is never easy and I aim to provide a safe, trusting, compassionate space to explore or process issues.

I am the co-founder of Bloom Psychology Clinic in North Vancouver. Prior to this appointment, I worked in major hospitals in Canada and in the United States in association with McGill University and the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. I have conducted multiple Randomized Controlled Trials for the treatment of mood disorders and related conditions using CBT, IPT, and IPSRT. I have also published nearly 20 peer-reviewed articles on the neurobiology of stress, social bonding, and mood disorders in humans. This research has been featured widely in international media and has informed my approach to treatment and assessment.

So many experiences can knock you off kilter and make it hard to feel your genuine self. You have likely landed here because your symptoms have become intrusive. Anxiety, panic attacks and anger are hard to ignore but what about the more subtle signs? Strained relationships, feeling numb, avoidance, disconnection and irritability also have a huge impact in your life.

Throughout our lifespan we all face different challenges. Using our resourcefulness and creativity we meet those challenges to the best of our ability. However, sometimes a problem becomes too big or heavy for us to carry. We may find that we have used up all our resources, support and familiar methods and we feel stuck.

I have supported marginalized communities throughout my career and have a special interest in working with neurodivergent folks, such as those with suspected or diagnosed Autism and ADHD. I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches and adapt sessions to meet the specific situation and needs of each client. I believe that growth and healing is a lifelong journey that is unique to each person's own body, emotions, needs, beliefs, and hopes. As a proponent of social justice, I am committed to maintaining a practice that celebrates differences, cultivates curiosity, values intersectionality, and empowers advocacy.

At Nova Mental Health our focus is on providing therapy to help children, youth, adults, and families manage the mental health issues interfering with the quality of their lives. I am passionate about working with clients who have experienced traumatic events or adverse childhood experience. My clients often feel high levels of trauma related symptoms, anxiety or depression and they want relief from their negative emotions, flashbacks or nightmares. They need a safe relationship through which they get unconditional support and guidance towards their mental health goals. I also specialize in working with women who have experienced various adverse experiences including physical violence, emotional abuse or sexual assault.
