Warmth, engagement, attunement and compassion - these are some of the characteristics that support the relational work I offer clients. I'm an attachment-based, trauma-focused therapist, trained to integrate many other therapeutic approaches - for example, mindfulness, body-based approaches, stress reduction, psycho-education. I am particularly experienced in working with emotional neglect and abuse, physical/sexual trauma and dissociation, mood disorders, low self-esteem, self-harm (including eating disorders and addiction), identity issues (gender, sexuality and culture) and relationship difficulties (personal and professional).
Having lived in many countries around the world, I am particularly sensitive to, and interested in, working with all kinds of diversity and the feeling of being 'homeless", displaced or of 'otherness' - that feeling of being an outlier in life, and even from oneself. I also have a special interest in childhood abuse, trauma and ongoing neglect .
Before training as a psychotherapist, I was an academic philosopher and a screenwriter. The thread linking all was my unwavering interest in what makes people tick and what blocks people from living more fulfilled lives. I bring not just warmth, empathy and compassion but engaged creativity to the therapeutic process. I am curious and non-judgmental.
