My approach is to provide a safe and non-judgemental space to explore life challenges and work toward improved functioning. I draw on different approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), solution focused therapy and polyvagal informed theory in order to tailor the counselling experience to the unique needs of the client. My practice is centred around values of curiosity and respect for the client’s lived experience, with a focus on creating increased self compassion and internal safety. I believe that we can access internal strengths that foster improved wellbeing through increased awareness and intentional practice.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Victoria and a Master’s of Art in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. My background is in working with newcomers to Canada and survivors of intimate partner violence, and I am passionate about continuing to increase my knowledge of community resources and advocacy.
