I work primarily in a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) framework, within an environment of compassion, collaboration and trust, to treat a variety of issues. I have experience working with the LGBTQ+ community and the mental health issues that can afflict individuals in the community. I am also an assistant clinical professor at McMaster University, where I am engaged in clinical research.
CBT is based on the premise that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours influence each other. In CBT, we focus on modifying our thinking and behaviour in order to change emotional reactions that are distressing. In therapy, you will learn new skills to help you break out of unproductive cycles that maintain emotional distress.
