Acknowledging Individual differences is essential to provide supportive therapy. Feelings of anger, fear, sadness or guilt arise when life experiences are overlooked, neglected and not understood. Anxiety & Depression is a response to the failure to care for the feelings & emotions of the self. Likewise, feelings of stress and inner discomfort need understanding to be changed. The psychotherapy techniques I use to ease client issues, and discomfort include CBT, Talking Therapy, DBT skills, Client-Centred, Compassion, Emotional and Solution Focus Therapy, Psychoeducation, frameworks of attachment, and family systems.

While it is true that every life has its highs and lows, sometimes the lows are hard to manage and support may be needed to regain strength. I provide counselling for children and adults, both individually and within the context of the family. I’m a queer, multiply-neurodivergent therapist who deeply understands the struggle of finding adequate mental health support. This has fueled my passion for providing a safe space for clients to get curious, understand themselves on a deeper level, and begin forming a life that works with their brain rather than against it. Some of the challenges I enjoy helping clients navigate include: emotional dysregulation, executive dysfunction, sensory differences, chronic invalidation, negative or unstable self-concept, black-and-white thinking/idealization and devaluation, and internalized stigma/ableism/homophobia/transphobia/fatphobia.

Do you feel that there are times when you feel weak, a failure, inadequate, incompetent, not good enough, and because of that, life has become a jumbled mess where you feel like a pile of spaghetti noodles with all chaos, no order? Then read on…. Spaghetti is interesting. It can sit there as a big jumbled mess. But as soon as you pick up a couple of pieces, they slide right out from the pile. They're so easy to separate. They only look like a big mess. And just like anything else ... you eat that plate of spaghetti one bite at a time. Allow me to become the one who will help you to untangle, heal, and energize.

You are important! I often hear my clients sharing their feelings of not being heard by their loved ones or not knowing where to start in their healing journey. I use self-compassion and your strengths as a starting point to build coping strategies. My goal is to always give you a space to be heard and someone on your team so you know you are not alone. I find the warmth of emotion-focused therapy and integrative approach of psychodynamic therapy combine to create a kind and deep understanding of my clients during their process. Your needs and boundaries are important, together we can work on building confidence and self-advocacy.

How can I find a therapist in L7E?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
How much does therapy cost?
Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
