More valuable than my combined 15 years of experience and education in the social service sector, is my gift to build authentic connections with those I serve. Our bodies, mind, & soul come together to a centered place to enable us to deal with the past or present in order to move forward. I am committed to helping others find clarity & balance, and provide them with the tools necessary towards healing and personal growth. Self- awareness and the ability to self assess is at the core of change and helps towards becoming your authentic self. Through a trauma -informed lens, I create environments that allow people to be themselves.

Are you dealing with depressive symptoms and a lack of purpose in life? Would you like to learn skills that can help you during and after therapy to navigate life better? The CBT approach that I utilize in my online-groups focuses on helping participants be empowered by gaining better awareness about their own thoughts, behaviors and interactions with others. Step by step, you will learn to bring more balance to your way of thinking, behaving and interacting with others, and set reachable short-term and long-term goals that will give you an increased sense of purpose in life. The group format also helps with feelings of isolation.

Are you different? So am I. I specialize in working with people who break the mold. This includes neuro-diverse adults (ADHD, Autistic, C-PTSD), chronically ill, 2SLGBTQ, and racialized people. Focusing on resiliency and emotional intelligence, I use evidence-based practices and creative interventions to use the wounds of the past as seeds for growth. Adverse childhood experiences, trauma, and relationship fractures disrupt our feelings of safety and trust. In order to thrive, we need to heal.

The high levels of anxiety, anger and loss that families are facing today are wreaking havoc on our well-being and in our relationships. You may notice the ways you used to cope with stress are no longer working. You long to move away from being in survival mode but aren’t sure where to begin. You may secretly believe nobody out there will ever understand you or care to, which can be a lonely and painful experience. You being here means you are exploring the idea of reaching out to speak with a therapist. This is a brave and vulnerable first step.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
How much does therapy cost?
Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
