I would be honoured to walk beside you for a portion of your journey. Many of us have had earlier experiences that impact our ability to work, love, play, or achieve our full potential. By exploring the connections between body, mind and emotions, you can overcome barriers and move forward. You are courageous in taking this first step ... whether you are seeking a psychological assessment for school or work-related challenges, trauma treatment, struggling with mood or anxiety-related concerns, or dealing with LGBTQ-specific questions.

Do you find that things that used to feel easy don’t feel so easy anymore? You might notice that being around others takes more out of you than it used to. On the surface you seem fine, but inside you feel close to tears and are working hard to keep it together. You want to feel seen and at ease, to have a bit of peace in your nervous system, but you’re running out of willpower to keep pushing through each day.

Accepting new clients: Along your life journey you, or your child/adolescent, may have hit unanticipated challenges, transitions, or trauma, impacting your well-being and capacity to move forward. Others may view you as someone who has it all together, but internally you are stressed, anxious, unmotivated, or shut down. Perhaps, this is happening to your child, or adolescent, and as a parent you have exhausted all ideas, and don’t know where to turn. These difficulties are impacting the emotional/mental health of yourself, your relationships, your work, your schooling, and/or your family dynamics, leaving you feeling unfulfilled.

Therapy is a journey back to our own wisdom, and to our physical body. Sometimes we can become overwhelmed with emotions, anxiety, and with life. Using a compassionate, relational approach, I can help bring you back in touch with the various parts of yourself, to see what is stuck and what has to fade in order to find your authentic self. I see clients who are feeling depressed, overwhelmed, anxious, or are having difficulties resolving trauma, grief or relationship issues. I have extensive experience in helping those with spiritual / existential / creative issues, psychedelic integration, and with misunderstood health issues.

Do you ever feel like you’re constantly “on,” doing everything you’re supposed to, but still feeling anxious, disconnected, or unsure who you really are? Maybe you overthink, put other people’s needs first, or feel stuck in patterns that don’t fit anymore. You might be asking yourself, Who am I now? What do I actually want? You just want to feel calmer, more like yourself, and confident in the direction you’re going.

Anxiety and depression can emerge from many places. Whether it’s trauma, grief, stress, life transitions, or a diagnosis, our sessions will explore your individual story as we integrate evidence-based care. I know how OCD “themes” feel scary to share. Maybe it’s guilt, fear, shame or all of them. I will help you face those fears and work towards the life you deserve to live regardless of what message OCD tells you. If you have ADHD, we will explore ways to improve the ways perfectionism, stress, inattention, relationships other challenges emerge. I also support families that navigate a love one’s neurodivergence.

I focus heavily on your individual values and helping you discover a meaning-centered life. I believe that therapies and the therapeutic relationship are as unique as the individual, while one style may suit you, it may not suit others. I am mindful of each individual who walks through the door.

Do you find yourself wondering why you respond the way you do? Your actions, thoughts, and even your feelings too often don’t align with the person you either want to be or know yourself to be? You find yourself repeating the same patterns, feeling trapped in a loop? I work from the position that we start out with unlimited potential and then “life happens”, our experiences can get stuck, not fully processed or integrated. This can make us more reactive, feeling like we are the mercy of our emotions, thoughts, and actions.

Are you feeling stressed or worrying about too much in your life, or perhaps frustrated in your personal or work relationships? Are you going through a life transition that leaves you feeling unsure and anxious? Many people who are struggling with uncertainty have a hard time knowing what direction to go in. It may be that you’ve tried to handle things on your own, or put off reaching out for support because you feel you should be able to work through your challenges by yourself. Sometimes everyone around you seems to have answers, but all you feel is confused. Mostly, you don’t want to let others down and feel that you might.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you love the life you’re living? And if you could change one thing to make it better, what would it be? Maybe you’d want less anxiety, fewer mood swings, greater focus, or more stable and secure relationships. Maybe you’re carrying old wounds that still shape how you feel or react. Or maybe you’re just tired of feeling stuck and ready to figure out what keeps getting in the way. You want to build a life you love. You want to build a life you love, and you’re ready to start working with someone who can help you get there.

Do you wonder what it means to live a full life? Do you experience times when you are not sure of the direction of your life? Do we have incredible potential as human beings that we are not accessing? These questions may be worth exploring if you are experiencing anxiety, depression, or other symptoms. The state of our life at all levels is rarely explored in therapy. Often therapy targets part of the problem but not all of the problems.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are certified by one of the main professional associations, mainly the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and will have a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation with their name. Social Workers listed in the directory must be registered members of the college specific to their province. To be listed in the directory, Psychologists must be registered with the psychological college specific to their province or territory.

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given the considerable variation in professional regulation and prerequisites across Canadian provinces, some providers may possess significant professional qualifications without necessarily holding professional memberships or being obliged to acquire them. As a result, they may be selectively included without the "Verified" seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists and social workers can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and supervised, practical experience that enable them to do so in Canada.

Psychologists have a master's and/or doctoral degree and have passed both written and oral exams. Psychologists are able to complete mental health assessments and provide diagnostic information to clients as well as provide counselling therapy or psychotherapy. Counsellors and psychotherapists are expected to have a master's or doctoral degree in counselling psychology, social work, or a related mental health discipline and certification by a professional association, such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Registered Social Workers possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work and where possible must be licensed or certified by the provincial government and/or regulatory college.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, the cost of a therapy session in Canada could be between $100 and $200. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. Some types of outpatient mental health services are covered by Medicare, provided these are performed by a licensed mental health professional in the provinces or territory you reside in and who accepts the assignment.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postal code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Professionals licensed by regulatory colleges and those certified by associations such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association are obligated to uphold client confidentiality unless there is a legal reason that requires them to disclose information. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there is the potential or known harm to the client or others, or a court order, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
