I enjoy providing a safe space to explore stress, unhealthy relationships, difficult histories, make sense of things, and build a more hopeful and healthy future. Therapy is collaborative, and I'll discuss what direction you want to go in, what you want to work on, what approaches work for you, and what doesn’t.

Just as every person differs, I can expect every client to be a unique experience. Clients who are facing discomfort in their lives and are active in their search for change can find comfort in the space we create together. Many of us want to change but are restricted due to a past trauma or attachment confusion. This presents itself through anxiety, depression, body image issues, and/or relationship dysfunction.

You’re stuck in a spiral of self-doubt, and finding a way out feels exhausting. You remember a time when figuring out how to move forward didn’t feel so complicated, but the life you knew feels like a distant past and the future no longer feels so clear. You’ve held it together for so long, but you’re tired of feeling pulled in a million different directions. You’re ready to feel like your hard work has finally paid off. I help people just like you, ones who have it within them to feel hopeful and grounded again, but just need the support to get there.

Sometimes life can throw us for a loop; it can feel like chaos and challenging to manage. Doing the best with what you have, but maybe that doesn't feel like enough. Carrying around the weight of nagging problems can be exhausting. It can impact relationships, work performance, school, and parenting or simply make it difficult to find enjoyment in the simple things. I can help with many challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, feeling stuck, facing relationship problems, infidelity, high-conflict divorce, separation, or even processing a new family structure.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
How much does therapy cost?
Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
