About

As a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor and Supervisor, I believe every person is the expert of their life. I provide a safe environment where people can process and gain the insights and awareness they are seeking. Many of us feel trapped in shame, fear, loneliness, anger, and hurt. These feelings are often deep-rooted and have not been recognized, acknowledged and shared with someone non-judgmental. Although well-intentioned, family members, friends and co-workers offer advice and support in ways that inhibit our healing process. As we share our life stories with someone objective we are able to heal ourselves.
Working with couples and individuals to heal sexual, mental, emotional and physical abuse, infidelity, codependency, addiction, loss & grief, traumatic experiences, communication conflicts, low self worth, anxiety and depression, I see many clients walk out the doors with a renewed sense of self and purpose.
I offer MBTI interpretations which help individuals gain personal insights and identify strengths and challenges. This assessment is beneficial for self esteem, career identification, parenting, relationships, conflict resolution, and enhancing communication in our relationships. I offer supervision services to new and existing counsellors/therapists, and provide supervision training for supervisors.

Kristy L. Higgins's Groups

Supervision Group

The foundation of this supervision group is set on a competency-based framework. The members of this group receive guidance and support from a qualified supervisor and their peers, helping to reduce the risk of serious oversight. This group provides an opportunity to reflect on transference issues and gain insight from the perspectives of others. Group Supervision provides opportunities for counsellors to receive empathetic support, improve therapeutic skills, enhance knowledge, develop self-awareness and experience the facilitation of reflective practice. Each group member is encouraged to evaluate their own counselling practice and provide a support system to one another.
