About
I am a registered psychotherapist providing counselling to teens, families, adults and couples. My specialized expertise is in anxiety, depression, ADHD and ASD, giftedness, acute and chronic medical conditions, special needs and vicarious trauma for professionals and care-givers. I teach mindfulness as a way of finding peace in the present moment. Mindfulness strategies develop awareness of thoughts, feelings and automatic stress responses, so that we can learn to pause, stay calm, and choose how we respond in challenging interactions.
I help families develop a better understanding of their adolescent's diagnosis, find ways to prevent conflict, and repair after a difficult interaction. For teens and parents, I offer strategies in emotional regulation from CBT and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. I help parents set priorities and goals to optimize treatment.
In my individual work with late adolescents and adults, the conversation allows for deeper reflection. I encourage an attitude of self-compassion while exploring concerns in identity, relationship, work or life direction, self care and personal growth. For couples, learning about attachment styles will help partners become secure anchors for each other.
