My orientation to treatment is client centred. I believe the relationship between client and therapist is key for seeing change in psychotherapy and work to foster a collaborative alliance with my clients. I strive to help each client build skills, alter outdated and maladaptive thought and behaviour patterns, reduce suffering, practice acceptance and grow mindfully. I work with adults facing a range of psychological and life challenges including anxiety, depression, OCD, Bipolar disorder, psychosis, grief/loss, career changes, life transitions, and relationship issues.
I work from a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) framework; however I also incorporate other therapeutic approaches into my work where appropriate, including motivational interviewing, mindfulness, dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). I also have specialized experience in working with individuals with psychosis.
If you are dealing with life interfering or altering psychological symptoms, research shows that evidence based therapies, like CBT, can help to decrease suffering and increase wellbeing. I believe change can begin when we meet ourselves where we are in the present and move forward together. Please reach out if you feel I could be a good fit for your needs.
