As a play therapist, I provide children with the time, space, and opportunity to work through what they need to in order to get un-stuck (whether or not the adults in their life are aware of why they got stuck in the first place!). This can look like processing trauma, adjusting to a big life change, or gaining a stronger sense of who they are in the world.
Asking for help can feel uncomfortable, AND it's true that we often don't receive the support we need in our parenting journeys in order to feel grounded and confident in the way we relate to our kids - especially when they're having a hard time.
