Using everything from Family Systems to attachment dynamics to Parts/IFS approaches, I work with adult individuals to develop awareness and understanding of systemic influences affecting conscious and subconscious behaviours and decision-making. Then we focus on developing the strengths and resources available to, and within, the client, using Buddhist tenets of mindfulness and compassion, to increase and improve the alignment of outward presentation with internal values.
Counselling is as much about learning who we are as individuals as it is learning who we are as partners in relationship. Issues often result from not understanding what we want, then not clearly communicating our expectations to others. It's no surprise: muddy self-awareness + muddy communications results in relationship chaos.
I am experienced with a broad spectrum of relationship styles and compositions, consensual power exchange structures, gender identities, and sexual orientations. I also have an extensive understanding of the stresses inherent in working in the high-tech community of Waterloo Region, and the impacts those stresses can have on personal and family life.
