Are you feeling overwhelmed by people or situations? Are you seeking a way forward in your life? Sometimes we need to take time apart, to ground ourselves in who we are, and to connect (or reconnect) with our strengths. Making art is inherently therapeutic, helping us release stress and become present to ourselves and to the moment. Art therapy builds on this experience, inviting creative expression to draw us into a deeper understanding of our situation.
In an art therapy session, the act of making something helps us explore emotions and connect with our own wisdom. No art skills are needed—the focus is on the process, not the result. Engaging our creative self can illuminate strengths, open up possibilities and help that which is stuck to flow.
For over 15 years, I worked with Unitarian Universalist congregations, supporting people through life’s most profound moments, creating welcoming spaces for connection and growth. After the arts helped me recover from a traumatic brain injury, I wanted to offer what I had found: a source of grounding, insight, healing and growth through creative expression.
