I have over thirty years experience working with people, first as a child and youth worker and since 2000 as a psychotherapist. My philosophy is that most people experience life challenges, mood problems and relationship issues from time to time. Since I believe that these things are normal I work to help clients work through issues that may be undermining their happiness and success and find ways to increase happiness and life satisfaction. I have great faith in the human ability to grow, learn and to come to peace.
Sadly, many people experience traumatic life events and have lasting wounds that affect their mental health. Using psychotherapeutic techniques and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), my aim is to help people recover from past injuries and find ways to regain their well-being and work toward greater happiness.
I have a special interest in new parents and their adjustment to parenthood. My belief is that society places too many judgements and expectations on parents, particularly mothers. My focus is in helping clients build resilience and feel better about themselves in this profound new role and life stage.
