What is my approach to helping? Just as the body requires nurturing and attention to keep it healthy, the mind also requires maintenance and consideration around how it can be used to create the life circumstances that you desire. I work with individuals and couples that have interest in gaining increased awareness about their ways of being in their lives in order to bring about alternative outcomes. I am a platform for clients to discuss concerns, clarify what would be helpful and strengthen resolve and understanding of personal resources to make a desired change in their lives.

Therapy is about becoming unstuck, connecting with a deeper sense of what's important to you, what really matters, what you really want deeply for yourself in your life. Letting go of stale, habitual, suffocating stories which restrict you. And opening to new, gentler, friendlier narratives of possibility. guiding purposeful action in support of what you passionately value and really want for yourself. ....NOTE I ask you to please email me first either to go ahead and set up an appointment with me or, if you prefer, to arrange a 10-15 min phone conversation

*Note that I work with individuals aged 4 to 21 and I am only accepting clients for psychoeducational and psychological assessments currently. I have been fortunate to spend the past decade exploring my passion in helping those with learning challenges build strategies for success, and supporting people to address mental health barriers and adversity. My early career focused on researching motivational factors that contribute to learning and interventions, while I later developed a passion for working in applied psychology settings working in clinics, hospitals and the school board.

What makes me different than the other therapists on here? I don't pretend to be the expert on your life because only you know what's best for your wellbeing. I'm here to share my knowledge and help you make lasting change. I work from a feminist lens and am passionate about supporting women to transform the way we relate to food and our bodies, including sexuality and desire. We work towards self-acceptance and body neutrality, rejecting society's standards and finding our own path based on our values and what fulfills us, regardless of others' judgements or expectations.

Art therapy is a highly effective modality for a wide range of issues and conditions, and is appropriate for people of all ages. Its strength lies in accessing the wellspring of creativity within each person: the uniqueness and potential for transformation found there. The directives are simple to follow, metaphorical, adapted to your needs and habits, and designed to foster insight and inner resourcing. The witnessed creative act is powerfully integrating and healing, and therefore especially effective for such issues as complicated grief and early childhood trauma.

Warm hello, if you are on this site for yourself or a loved one, it may be helpful to know that people seek my services for help with stress, depression, anxiety, pain, trauma, grief and loss. I value the role of humour and compassion to support personal growth and optimal well-being. I believe that life's difficulties are workable and can teach us a lot if we can lean into the discomfort, interrupting our habitual patterns of avoidance, and to relate to our pain (physical or emotional) consciously and compassionately. It is my intention to support you to maximize your inner and outer resources.

I have spent 20 years in the business sector cultivating client relationships as a sales executive, which has helped lead me to pursue my passion to work in the field of counselling. I am interested in helping individuals grow by increasing their self-awareness, giving them tools to navigate challenges, and supporting them in their journeys. I provide a safe, welcoming space for clients so that together we can explore and process experiences, learn new perspectives, and to empower clients towards reaching their therapeutic goals.

I am happy to work with an extensive range of clients and organize my practice around providing Client-Centred Therapy grounded in empirically-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Additionally, I have lived experience as a first responder and am passionate about addressing the unique challenges associated with fulfilling such roles. In my experience working with people over the last 10 years, I've found that often their challenges are best addressed first and foremost by being heard; this act of listening is a gift that unlocks the resources hidden within.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
How much does therapy cost?
Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
