Helpers, healthcare workers, teachers, social workers and caregivers in general are some of the most compassionate and dedicated people I know. They are so dedicated to the folks they support they often don't realize the effect it has on their own emotional health and well-being. Working the front lines of social services for 20 years, I witnessed the impacts of workplace stress, vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue and full body and emotional burnout that can come from this unique work.
My practice is dedicated to those that work with or are studying to work with societies most vulnerable, so they can continue the compassionate work they love in a manner that is healthier. I encourage compassion for seIf, exploration of shame, imposter syndrome, grief and secondary trauma, practical look at life balance with movement towards valued living.
