Dr. Irving is a clinical psychologist whose practice is focused on the prevention and treatment of workplace burnout, cognitive behavioural therapy for depression and anxiety and mindfulness-based interventions. She completed her Ph.D. at McGill University studying burnout in physicians in the Faculty of Medicine’s Programs in Whole Person Care. Her clinical psychology residency at Penn Medical and Princeton Medical Centres included training in eating disorders and mood, anxiety, and concurrent disorders. She is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Departments of Psychiatry and Psychological Clinical Science at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Irving held a two-year clinical/research postdoctoral fellowship in the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Clinic at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) (2011-2013). There her research focused on understanding the mechanisms that underpin change in mindfulness-based therapies and the prevention of depressive relapse.
Dr. Irving enjoys working with students and trainees and has taught workshops on CBT, burnout prevention in health care, and addictions treatments at health centres across Canada and in the United States. She has an interest in working with individuals in professions that are considered high-risk for burnout and adults who have a recent diagnosis of ADHD.
