I am a licensed registered psychotherapist, in practice for almost 16 years. I specialize in working with adolescents, and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger management, relationship issues, low self-esteem, parenting problems, school or peer problems, and transitional or career issues. I strive to create a warm, supportive and nonjudgmental environment where we can work together to make healthy changes. I am experienced in providing brief and long-term therapy, and provide help that addresses immediate concerns, as well as provides enduring change.
Although I received extensive training in many therapeutic models (cognitive-behavioural, emotion-focused, solution-oriented and psychodynamic, to list a few), I don't work within the boundaries of any one approach, but rather offer a personalized approach to therapy, tailored to each person's individual needs.
My masters and doctorate training at Queen's University included extensive study and research of the brain neurochemistry and the effects of psychiatric medications. This knowledge makes me uniquely positioned to be able to review recent literature on current scientific research in biological as well as psychological contributions to psychological disorders.
