Much of life can be spent in an attempt to balance multiple factors that affect us, such as relationships, work, careers, stress, unpredictability, and self understanding. Our minds attempt to develop appropriate strategies to maintain balance based on experience and learning. Much of the time, we may be using these strategies habitually. A critical step towards developing mental health can be acquiring a mindful awareness of the strategies that we operate out of, so as to understand their purpose and adjust them when necessary. Such steps can help create a stronger balance and develop a deepened appreciation of ourselves.
To help construct such balance, I provide an integrative psychotherapy approach built to fit your individual needs and grounded in research based theories and treatment methods. In particular, I draw on attachment theory, polyvagal theory, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT).
I emphasize creating a friendly and relaxed environment where trust, compassion, and respect can be built. I collaborate with clients to develop meaningful understanding of themselves and to construct appropriate action plans to create lasting change.
