About
Dr. Joel Town is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University, and the founder of Dynamic Health Psychological Services. He also works at the Centre for Emotions and Health, QE-II Hospital, as the clinical lead for Medically Unexplained Symptoms. Dr. Town brings over a decade of experience working with adults and young adults who experience a range of mental and emotional health difficulties, workplace stress, trauma, and relationship problems. Dynamic Health Psychological Services is a specialized psychotherapy centre with a skilled team, committed to providing effective patient centred care.
All of our clinicians provide evidence-based psychological services and are trained in an advanced therapy approach, Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). This approach is based on a strong relationship with your therapist and is designed to help achieve meaningful, long-lasting changes in as short of a time period as is possible.
Treatment focuses on helping you to better manage mixed emotions, to enable experiencing of feelings, which research shows leads to improvements in symptoms and well-being. Following careful assessment, the Dynamic Health team will discuss an approach and treatment plan that is tailored to your needs.
