My therapeutic approach is psychoanalytic. When the mind is in conflict with itself it can lead to symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and self defeating behaviours. By making sense of the unconscious mind and its conflicts, one can begin to heal from past experiences, improve current relationships and develop a more fulfilling relationship with oneself.
I work with both individuals and couples who are struggling emotionally. I help couples understand how unconscious patterns from the past often get repeated in their current relationship. This helps couples begin to build empathy toward each other and start to heal from old wounds.
I also offer psychoanalysis to individuals (I am currently a candidate in training at the Canadian Psychoanalytic Institute). The psychoanalytic process allows for the deepest contact with the unconscious mind. It requires time and commitment, but it is ultimately an investment in the self.
