I am a clinical psychologist who has expertise in working with adults (aged 18+) who are struggling with a wide range of mental health problems including depression, phobias, panic disorder, agoraphobia, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, health anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. My practice integrates cognitive-behavioural and mindfulness-based approaches to treating such problems.
Cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based treatment which has been applied to many mental health issues. It is goal-oriented, focused on teaching clients skills needed to identify, evaluate and change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour. CBT is typically short-term and addresses present day concerns.
I completed my PhD in Clinical Psychology in 2007 and have over 15 years of experience working within public health care and private practice settings. I am a certified CBT therapist with the Canadian Association for Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies and have obtained additional training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction.
