About
I believe that change is possible. I also believe that sometimes we need help and encouragement to identify the strengths within ourselves to make change happen. The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of how I approach my work. A feeling of safety and the building of trust can allow clients to begin to accept themselves, have compassion for themselves and harness their innate gifts and strengths. I understand the power of therapy from personal experience. I learned that healing is possible and the past does not have to rule the present and future.
This experience and the hope that it ignited within me, is why I became a therapist. My first career was as a musician. For several years, I pursued a career as a classical singer and obtained a Masters in Voice Performance. I have been performing and teaching for more years than I care to admit!
Creativity and authenticity are concepts that I have been able to transfer from my performing arts experience into my approach to therapy. My style is client-centred and I incorporate concepts from attachment theory, psychodynamic approaches, as well as solution-focused therapy.
