I am passionate about working with people who are embarking on or already undergoing change, whether that involves loss, identity transitions, personal growth, or any other life passage. I work with adults (18+) across the lifespan including elders (65+), first responders, and military personnel.
Like all clinical social workers, I believe in meeting my clients where they are. For me that means speaking your language. I do this by reflecting back what you say and offering you new ways to talk about your challenges, freeing you from judgments, diagnostic terms, and medical jargon. This can transform the way you see your challenges.
I draw heavily on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other cognitive approaches to help people to understand and navigate their problems using their own thoughts. In doing so I also integrate mindfulness practice and values work, gently leading clients first to consider what is important to them personally, and then to put it into practice.
My personal motto is “never stop learning.” That applies to the way I approach therapy - I see it as a learning journey that I take together with every individual client, during which I learn from them and they learn from me.
