Sometimes a person has thoughts, feelings, or beliefs that are upsetting or confusing. Maybe they do things they wish they wouldn’t, or don’t do things they wish they would. It makes life harder than it needs to be. My focus is on how past experiences affect today's functioning and peace of mind. I use a collaborative, non-judgemental, client-centred approach, and work from the belief that everyone is doing the best they can. You don’t have to know what’s wrong in order to meet with me.
While things can feel hopeless, there are ways to use the science of the brain to break through the stuckness. I use Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) psychotherapy, and EMDR psychotherapy, borrowing from other modalities if needed, to help relieve symptoms and distress caused by everything from major, recognisable trauma to present-day life challenges.
I work with people to discover and resolve what lies beneath troubling feelings or symptoms. Experience has shown me that these feelings or symptoms are there for a reason. I'm committed to working in a way that feels helpful, respectful, and attuned to the person's own goals.
