The COVID-19 Pandemic, Russian-Ukrainian conflict, runaway inflation, housing/food crisis, rise in violent crime, etc.; what do all of these events have in common? They subconsciously affect everyone's behaviour and thoughts. All of us are part of the same social fabric, and what affects the whole affects its parts, & vice-versa. No one is immune from these external influences; everybody feels the consequences of global, political & economic turmoil. The effects may be subtle, but our mood, energy & health are unequivocally impacted; our perception of ourselves & others may fluctuate wildly and our relationships suffer considerably.
The restrictions, mandates & lockdowns have taught me many things, including the fact that fear is more contagious than the virus itself; stigma & ignorance are the greatest threat to social stability & a significant cause for social divisions; and coronavirus’ socio-economic impact & psychological effects may have been greater than its public health risks.
In this time of great unknown, it is only normal to seek extra support & want to confide into someone who non-judgmentally listens, neutrally guides & objectively informs. I've worked as a mental health professional for 12+ years & provided over 12,000 hrs of therapy. I offer in-person sessions (from my Canmore office), as well as phone & video counselling.
