People generally want to be happy, feel safe, and work towards (or discover) their goals in life, so let's find a way to make those pieces a reality! I work to explore what has been causing you distress (like anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, or culture shock), how the distress started and continues to impact you right now, and supporting you to get tobthe place and headspace you want to get to.
By using techniques from CBT, ACT and psychodynamic theories, I try to offer space to open up, unpack and explore your mental boxes (emotions, memories, beliefs, thoughts and patterns), as well as helping in organizing and sorting through them to understand what they mean to you and why.
I view my approach to client-centered therapy like this: My client is in the driver's seat of the car (they pick the kind of car); meaning they are in control in this space. They go, we go, they stop, we stop, they turn, we turn. I try to act like a booster, or the optional GPS system, to help get them to where they want to be in a safe, timely manner.
