Beginning counselling is an intimidating process and I congratulate you for making it this far! Good job! Counselling offers a space for growth, stabilization, recovery, healing, and connection. I believe that much of human suffering is the result of disconnection and loneliness. As humans, we require connection. When we do not have this or we fear our connection is under threat, we respond. In counselling, we can explore this response to better understand our patterns and why we often find ourselves stuck, isolated, and distraught.
I maintain a client-centered approach that recognizes the complicated systems life presents. I believe we are all constantly shaping and being shaped by our environments and it is important to recognize the influence of these systems on us. My formal training is in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy.
