I have specialized training in DBT, CBT, EFT, EFFT, IFS, Mindfulness and trauma work.
I bring a gentle, curious and attuned approach to my work with individuals, families and couples. Together, we will examine patterns in your life, identify and expand your capacity to cope with the challenges you experience and deepen your relationship with self and others. I view therapy as taking a course on oneself and an opportunity to evolve. My work is often focused on supporting clients to understand, experience and tolerate emotions and to shift out of behavours, thoughts and coping that are no longer serving them.

Operating from a humanistic and trauma-informed lens, I incorporate elements of Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) to help clients connect with injured parts, re-story traumatic experiences, and develop coping skills to navigate the turbulent waves of life.
I believe that each us carries inherent goodness inside of us, and sometimes we can become stuck. As a therapist, I see my role as creating a space where you can feel supported to explore the parts of you that are hurting and also to nurture your own inner compassion and wisdom. Working from a non-pathologizing approach, I believe that all behaviour meets a need. The work of therapy is to develop a deeper understanding of what purpose protective mechanisms like addiction, anxiety, and self-harm have played in your life, and what you need to feel supported to grow and change.

I use an array of psychotherapeutic modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS, Level 2), psychodynamic and mindfulness-based, as well as drawing on somatic approaches.
My belief is that people come to therapy to have an experience that is markedly different from what they encounter in their daily life. My training and experience allow me to have the tools to provide an opportunity for that different experience, whether it is getting relief from anxiety, finding grace and gratitude in the midst of grief, or gaining clarity and calm in a situation of overwhelm and confusion. We work collaboratively and creatively to uncover the root causes of your distress or dissatisfaction, and address them without re-traumatization. Our work together is safe, deep, transformative, and often spontaneously joyous.

My training is primarily in Gestalt therapy, but I have also studied Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Underneath your anxiety, depression and anger there are feelings that need to be explored, known and expressed. This awareness is valuable and will be the foundation of future possibilities and choices. I will provide the support you need to start this journey and then will challenge you and offer new choices in a way that empowers you. I will help you get more curious about things you haven't paid so much attention to and together we will explore struggles, issues and then new possibilities.

In my practice I combine the useful tools offered by CBT with person-focused meaning-making talk therapies such as Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Existential Psychotherapy.
Welcome. I’m happy you’re here because it means you believe things can get better, and that means you have hope. Hope is a great starting point. All of us woke up in this place called life, and none of us got a manual, let me help you make the most of it. I strive to create a warm, collaborative, and welcoming atmosphere where your bravery and vulnerability are met with a non-judgmental and curious attitude that allows for new insights and self-awareness to surface. I love walking alongside my client’s on their journey to build resilience, tenacity and self-leadership.

I draw from many different therapeutic modalities such as, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Schema therapy and Narrative therapy.

Coupled with my experience as an immigrant woman of colour, I am driven to provide culturally-sensitive and anti-oppressive services to all marginalized communities and underrepresented groups. In my work, I'm committed to honoring my clients with compassion, presence and integrity. My sessions often include parts work (IFS), mindfulness-based approaches, Gestalt, and encouraging the use of awareness as a powerful and curative ally. When we become aware of our patterns and limiting beliefs we can then willingly, courageously choose differently and embrace another way of being. My hope is that I may be of service and provide guidance as this process ushers you to a place of healing and transformation.

Many people come to therapy with longstanding mental health concerns that fit diagnostic criteria, but many people come to therapy in search of a way to take a small step in another direction; one that will bring them more positive well-being.

In the midst of the relentless whirlwind of parenting, each night can feel like it’s blending into the next as you wrestle with worry, exhaustion, and isolation. You may find yourself awake, consumed by thoughts of your child's struggles, desperately seeking solace and guidance in a sea of conflicting information. In today's world it's a lonely journey, one where the weight of uncertainty and the absence of a manual can feel SO suffocating. As a mom and youth and family therapist, my skillset is helping caregivers and young people with the complex challenges they face.

You are hurt beyond belief. The person you trusted; the person that committed to you. The person who told you that they love you.... is the person that has betrayed you! This is a shocking discovery, even if it is not the first time! I understand the heart ache, the confusion and the difficulty in trying to navigate your present pain and work towards re-grounding yourself and healing.

When did becoming an adult get so tough? Do you ever feel like you woke up one day, and even though you followed all the steps you were supposed to, you continue to feel overwhelmed with anxieties about your life and the future? Did pressures from your family and friends lead you into a career path that you don’t love or a relationship that is unfulfilling, and now you’re wondering how to get your life back? I understand what it is like to reach a certain stage in life and feel misguided, unsupported, and unsure of yourself.

I work with adults and couples to help them move towards a state of continued growth, compassion, and self-awareness in a way that is collaborative, strengths-based, and empowering. I believe in creating a client-therapist relationship that fosters authenticity, support, and space for both acceptance, and for change. This can begin in our very first session. Together, we can begin to tease apart the adaptive approaches to dealing with and moving through life you've grown accustomed to, and begin to decipher which of these patterns are serving you, and which you may be interested in moving beyond.

I offer a warm, creative, down-to-earth approach that is client-focused and collaborative. I work from a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive framework. I believe in bringing light and air to the parts of ourselves that need time and space to emerge. In our increasingly fragmented world filled with smart phones and twitter feeds, we could all use some good old-fashioned connection. I bring a deep curiousity about the ways we move through the world, the stories we tell ourselves and how our relationships are affected.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Counsellors
What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.
How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.
Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.
How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
