I believe people experience psychological/emotional suffering because they are not able to relate deeply enough to certain aspects of themselves. This disconnection causes "symptoms" and pain. Depression and anxiety are the most common, but they can further develop into problems with identity, addictions, anger, suicidal feelings, despair, problems in relationships, personality disorders etc. To relieve suffering and to further ones personal development, a deeper connection with self is needed. The clients I usually work with are people who feel thwarted in their attempts to be happy, have satisfying relationships, achieve success.
My focus is to help people develop a more intimate and trusting relationship with themselves. This is accomplished by healing childhood trauma and current-life difficulties. This leads to improved life satisfaction and to greater life-success. Sometimes the lingering effects of trauma are so intense they need to be targeted more directly by using EMDR.
My 37 years of experience working with a great variety of mental health problems in various settings - including hospitals, residential treatment centers, community clinics and private practice - allow me to quickly connect with and feel understood by most people. To thrive in life and reach one's potential is the goal of psychological treatment.
